China: First Integrated Hydropower, Solar Power Project Launched

Sana'a: China's Huaning Group Co., Ltd. announced the launch of its first integrated hydropower and solar power project, utilizing a fully domestically developed control system. The photovoltaic power plants in De'an and Longjie, Yunnan Province, southwest China, were connected to the national grid on Sunday.

According to Yemen News Agency, this represents a significant breakthrough in the field of self-regulating core equipment for major clean energy bases in the country. The project, being built and operated by Huaning Group's Lancangjiang branch's Xiaowan Hydropower Plant, has achieved breakthroughs in key technologies such as stable control and coordination between hydropower and solar power.

The project utilizes intelligent control technology to collect green electricity generated from 16 photovoltaic power plants in the region through a single collection station. This electricity is then distributed along with the power produced by the Xiaowan Hydropower Station, achieving synergy between hydropower and photovoltaic power and integrating energy storage and supply.

This operating model provides a crucial guarantee for a safe and stable electricity supply. According to the agency, the project's total installed capacity is 5.43 million kilowatts, including 4.2 million kilowatts of hydropower and 1.23 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power.

When fully operational, the project will generate 20 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to meet the needs of approximately seven million households year-round and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 16 million tons annually.
