Rada': Governor of Al-Bayda Abdullah Idris inaugurated the construction works of a rainwater harvesting caravan in Rada'. The project aims to recharge the groundwater basin and wells with a storage capacity estimated at 600,000 cubic meters.
According to Yemen News Agency, the project is a coordinated effort involving the Seventh Military Region, the Executive Unit for Road Construction and Maintenance, the Agricultural Projects Funding Unit, the Water Resources Branch, the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, and the local authority in Rada'. It is part of a broader water resources development program.
During the inauguration, Governor Idris, accompanied by the Director of Rada' city Ahmed Al-Akkam and military leaders, received a briefing from the Director of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation Mohammed Al-Kuhlani. Al-Kuhlani explained that the caravan is designed with a modern mechanism to collect and direct rainwater toward the groundwater basin and wells, recharging approximately 600,000 cubic meters of water. This development is expected to positively impact water storage levels, which had been previously depleted.
Governor Idris highlighted the project's significance in addressing water challenges in Rada' by utilizing rainwater to recharge groundwater, contributing to water resource sustainability and improving water services. He reaffirmed the local authority's support for strategic water-related projects, emphasizing their role in alleviating the water crisis and meeting the population's basic needs.
He also called for the expansion of rainwater harvesting projects across the governorate's districts. Governor Idris stressed the importance of adhering to approved specifications and standards in implementing these projects to support the Rada' basin effectively.
