Al-hodeidah: The Cleaning and Improvement Fund in Al-Hodeidah Governorate has initiated efforts to clear blockages in rainwater drainage channels in response to recent flooding. These efforts are concentrated in the central districts of Al-Hali, Al-Hawk, and Al-Mina'a, which were heavily impacted by last Thursday's rainfall and subsequent floods.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Fund's Executive Director, Abdulnasser Al-Sharif, reported that cleaning teams promptly began their operations following the rainstorm. These teams focused on main streets and intersections overwhelmed by floodwaters, working diligently to remove blockages from the drainage channels. This initiative aims to ensure the swift drainage of water, facilitating the movement of both vehicles and pedestrians while mitigating the potential spread of diseases.
Al-Sharif expressed his appreciation for the attention and support from the governorate's leadership, acknowledging the dedication of the Fund's field teams. He also appealed to residents to refrain from disposing of waste on central medians or near manholes and drainage channels. Such actions contribute to blockages that can worsen water accumulation during heavy rainfall and floods.
