Muscat: The General Zakat Authority office in Al-Hodeidah Governorate inaugurated the water network project in Al-Zailai Village, Khannah Subdistrict, Jabal Ras District, aiming to provide essential services to vulnerable communities and displaced persons.
According to Yemen News Agency, the project includes a solar power system and a distribution network for direct water delivery to homes, targeting 100 families, approximately 300 people. The project is funded by the General Zakat Authority office and involves local community participation in excavation and well rehabilitation.
At the inauguration, Mohammed Hazaa, Director of the Authority's office in the governorate, highlighted the project's role in social solidarity and sustainable development, noting it is part of community partnership initiatives by the Authority.
The project demonstrates the effective use of zakat funds to alleviate citizens' hardships and provide essential services like water, particularly in rural areas facing challenges and high costs in accessing water.
The Authority's Community Partnership Officer, Mohammed Al-Barai, stated that the project was carried out in cooperation with the local community, with residents' involvement in excavation and well rehabilitation reducing costs and fostering a sense of responsibility for the project's maintenance and sustainability.
