Al-mahwit: Secretary-General of Al-Mahwit governorate Local Council Dr. Ali Al-Zaykum and Al-Mahwit undersecretary Ahmed Al-Qatma conducted an inspection of the second phase of a road paving project aimed at improving access to the villages of Masjid al-Ar in Al-Mahwit City.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Al-Zaykum, Mr. Al-Qatma, and Local Council members Abdulrahman Shamlan and Fouad Al-Dhaifani reviewed the ongoing works, which are part of a community initiative supported by the Central Emergency Development Intervention Unit and the Al-Mahwit City Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Society. The latter has provided cement for the project, demonstrating a collaborative approach to infrastructure development.
The officials received a detailed briefing from Dr. Humair Al-Harbi, Chairman of the City's Agricultural Cooperative Society, and its Executive Director Jaber Al-Shathami. The briefing highlighted the phased implementation by local residents, the progress achieved, and the challenges in completing the remaining phases, particularly in the challenging mountainous terrain.
Dr. Al-Zaykum commended the local residents for their initiative and involvement, emphasizing the significance of community partnerships in carrying out vital service projects. He noted the importance of road projects in facilitating movement, connecting residential areas with main roads, and enhancing access to essential services, which in turn support agricultural activities and improve the transportation of crops.
He reiterated the local authority's dedication to backing community initiatives and allocating resources to priority projects to enhance infrastructure and services in towns and villages, thus fostering local development.
Mr. Al-Qatma also highlighted the necessity of intensifying efforts to complete the project, lauding the community's high level of participation and the residents' role in executing road projects.
Dr. Al-Harbi affirmed the Society's commitment to supporting road sector initiatives as part of its mission to improve local infrastructure. He pledged ongoing coordination with relevant authorities to secure the resources necessary for priority projects.
Dr. Al-Harbi further expressed gratitude for the financial and in-kind contributions from local residents, which have significantly advanced the project. He acknowledged the efforts of the local authority, the Central Emergency Development Intervention Unit, the Agricultural Cooperative Society, and other supportive entities, which have been instrumental in the project's progress.
This road paving project is part of broader community initiatives aimed at enhancing the local road network, easing citizen movement, connecting residential areas with main roads, and bolstering agricultural and economic activities in Al-Mahwit.
