Sanaa: Al-Noor Center for the Blind, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Disabled, organized a ceremony to honor high-achieving and talented students at the center. This event was part of the celebrations for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
According to Yemen News Agency, the ceremony, themed 'Building Inclusive Societies for Persons with Disabilities for Social Progress,' featured a speech by the Fund's Deputy Executive Director, Othman Al-Sallawi. He emphasized the accomplishments of individuals with disabilities and reiterated their commitment to achieving professional, academic, and leadership excellence.
Al-Sallawi detailed the Fund's ongoing efforts, including updated regulations, a new service guide, and the development of an automated system. He announced the upcoming launch of an electronic portal and Android applications to facilitate service requests and inquiries for individuals with disabilities.
The event also included a speech by Jamil Al-Khaled, Director of the Education Division in the Capital Secretariat's Education Sector, who praised the continuous support for persons with disabilities. He highlighted that disability is a form of determination and willpower, urging society to recognize and nurture the talents of students with special needs.
Hassan Ismail, Director of Al-Noor Center for the Blind, spoke about the significant contributions of blind individuals to local activities. He condemned the lack of international response to the targeting of blind persons in the January 2016 attacks and commended the support from the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Fund.
The ceremony featured nasheed performances and the distribution of certificates and gifts to outstanding students. It was attended by notable figures, including Hafidh Sharaf, Abdulkarim Al-Musbahi, Rajaa Al-Mosabi, and Liza Al-Kouri.
