Sana'a: Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang called for strengthening integration between China and Russia within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Eurasian Economic Union, and for aligning the strategy for revitalizing Northeast China with the development strategy of the Russian Far East.
According to Yemen News Agency, this came in a speech delivered by Ding on Thursday during the 11th Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok, in Russia's Far East. He noted that regional cooperation between the two countries, particularly between Northeast China and the Russian Far East, has yielded fruitful results. China remains the largest trading partner of the Russian Far East, with the pace of implementation of key cooperation projects accelerating.
He explained that the mutual visa exemption policy has contributed to boosting cross-border travel and trade. He called for making the needs of citizens the focus of cooperation, strengthening solidarity between regions and provinces, and developing locally-oriented industries to bring tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
Ding also urged both sides to address the concerns of businesses, maintain stable and consistent policies, create favorable conditions for business growth, and deepen cooperation in culture, tourism, education, and youth.
He emphasized China and Russia's commitment to safeguarding regional peace and stability, upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international justice and fairness. He opposed any attempts to undermine the outcomes of World War II and the post-war international order.
Ding stressed that China has the confidence, capability, and conditions necessary to maintain stable and healthy economic development. He affirmed its continued commitment to expanding high-level opening-up and welcoming foreign companies to continue investing and strengthening their presence in the country.
