Sana'a: The Cancer Control Fund launched on Saturday the 10th National Colon Cancer Awareness Campaign under the slogan 'Your Awareness Protects You.' The month-long campaign aims to enhance public awareness of colon cancer and raise health literacy related to prevention and early detection.
According to Yemen News Agency, Chairman of the Cancer Control Fund, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Madani, explained that the campaign comes within the framework of the national cancer control strategy and seeks to increase community awareness about colon cancer and methods of prevention. He stressed the importance of collective community efforts to ensure the campaign's success.
He called on institutions, media outlets, and members of society to actively contribute to the campaign by spreading awareness messages and promoting health education, affirming that combating cancer is a shared responsibility.
Meanwhile, the Fund's Director of Health Awareness and Education, Hussein Al-Junaid, said the campaign will be implemented according to a prepared timeline and plan, featuring four main themes distributed throughout the campaign weeks. These include highlighting the key symptoms of colon cancer, identifying major risk factors, introducing prevention methods, promoting early detection and regular screening tools.
He added that awareness messages will be disseminated through television channels, radio stations, and social media platforms to reach the widest possible segment of society and strengthen the culture of prevention and early detection.
The campaign comes as part of the Cancer Control Fund's ongoing efforts to reduce the spread of the disease and promote awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and its role in improving treatment outcomes.
