Sana'a: The Acting Prime Minister, Muhammad Muftah, sent a telegram of condolence and sympathy on the death of the doyen of Yemeni chanters, the literary figure Qasim Ali Zubaydah, at the age of 75.
According to Yemen News Agency, the telegram sent to the family of the deceased and the entire Zubaydah clan praised the virtues of the late Qasim, who is considered one of the giants of Yemeni and Arab chanting and one of those who contributed to preserving the authentic Yemeni chanting heritage, especially the Sana'ani style. The Acting Prime Minister highlighted the pioneering role of the deceased in establishing the Yemeni Singers Association in 1409 AH/1989 CE, of which he was the first president. The association played a significant role in preserving and disseminating this heritage throughout the Arab world through his participation, along with several of its members, in Arab festivals.
He also noted the deceased's literary works, including: "A Glimpse from the Greatest Source on the Biography of the Noble Prophet," "Singing in Yemen" (manuscript), and "The Confession," in addition to audio releases such as "The Sana'ani Wedding Procession," "Muwashahat," and others.
Allamah Miftah expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, the entire Zubaydah family, all Yemeni singers, and the people of Old Sana'a in general, asking Allah Almighty to grant him His abundant mercy and forgiveness, to admit him to His spacious Paradise, and to grant his family, relatives, and loved ones patience and solace.
The deceased will be laid to rest in Al-Hamza Cemetery after the funeral prayer at the Great Mosque in Sana'a following the noon prayer on Saturday.
