Dhamar Launches Self-Sufficiency and Food Processing Programs in Summer Schools

Dhamar: The National Women's Committee in Dhamar Governorate, in cooperation with the Small and Micro Enterprise Development Authority and in coordination with the subcommittee of summer centers, has launched self-sufficiency and food processing programs in summer schools.

According to Yemen News Agency, during the launch, Deputy Governor Ali Atef praised the efforts of the committee and the authority in training girls and equipping them with income-generating skills and professions. He noted that these initiatives contribute to improving family livelihoods, boosting local production, and achieving self-sufficiency.

He highlighted the role of summer centers in preparing girls to acquire scientific and productive skills, emphasizing the importance of utilizing their free time effectively to protect them from negative influences.

Dhamar District Director Mohammed Al-Sayqal encouraged the girls to benefit from the courses and to share their knowledge with their families and peers. He suggested that they consider establishing small projects to support their families and strengthen the local economy.

Head of the National Women's Committee branch, Dr. Ashwaq Al-Mahdi, affirmed that these activities are part of the committee's efforts to promote girls' economic empowerment and spread the culture of productivity and self-sufficiency in society. She explained that the program includes various awareness and training activities such as workshops, lectures, and introductory presentations on the concept and importance of self-sufficiency. The program also offers practical training in five model summer schools for girls on food processing and home-based production skills.

Dr. Al-Mahdi added that the project will conclude with an exhibition to showcase the participants' products and the outcomes of the activities.
