Sanaa: A meeting held on Wednesday at the Health and Environment Office in the Capital Secretariat discussed preparations for launching health activities as part of the summer courses across all districts of the Secretariat.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included the office director Dr. Mutahar Al-Marouni, member of the Higher Committee for Summer Activities and Courses Yahya Al-Mahtouri, Director of Educational Coordination at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Ahmed Kharsan, Director of Activities in the Education Sector in the Secretariat Abdullah Sameena, along with health, mobilization, and educational leaders. They reviewed the arrangements for the health activities set to begin next Saturday and the means to ensure their success.
The health activities, to be implemented by more than 2,000 health workers, aim to instill health awareness among students participating in the summer courses, equipping them with skills and knowledge on handling various first aid cases, responding to common emergencies, dealing with injuries, as well as nutrition awareness, drug classification, and other concepts.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Marouni addressed the responsibilities and tasks assigned to trainers to raise students' health awareness, contributing to disease and epidemic prevention, and improving responses to injuries and emergency situations. He noted that the office had conducted a 15-day training program for 2,030 male and female health workers, who will train students in a total of 1,015 courses, including 471 courses for females, across the ten districts of the Secretariat.
The Director of the Health Office affirmed the readiness of trainers to carry out their assigned duties in accordance with the pre-prepared plan, expressing willingness to overcome any challenges they may face in the field. He pointed out that the summer courses come at an important stage to enhance awareness, build capacities, and protect youth from harmful ideas and cultures. Dedicating a week to the health aspect within the summer programs reflects awareness of the importance of health activities in achieving a disease-free society.
For his part, the member of the Higher Committee for Summer Activities praised the arrangements made by the Health Office in the Capital Secretariat to ensure the success of the health activities within the summer courses. He affirmed that summer courses contribute to instilling positive values and developing students' skills-especially in health aspects-making them more aware in various areas and strengthening their identity and cultural awareness.
