Sanaa: The team responsible for managing and implementing developmental and cooperative work in the Capital Secretariat, led by the head of the Social Affairs Committee, Hammoud Al Naqeeb, convened today to discuss the progress of development plans and projects along with the level of achievement attained so far.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by senior officials including the deputies of the Secretariat, Mazen Noman and Mohammed Saree, the executive director of the Projects and Agricultural and Fisheries Initiatives Financing Unit, Abdullah Sharaf Al Din, and directors from various offices such as health, finance, industry, and social affairs. They reviewed the outcomes and financial implications of previous meetings and evaluated what has been accomplished until now.
The gathering also included heads from the planning and agriculture sectors, Dr. Abdul Wahab Sharaf and Mohammed Hajar respectively, along with development team member Abdul Rahman Al Arjali. They analyzed performance reports and the level of completion in several developmental and service projects, as well as those still under implementation within the Projects and Agricultural and Fisheries Initiatives Financing Unit's plan.
Discussions also centered around the textiles and cotton sector, particularly the agreements between the Textile and Garment Union and the General Union of Clothing and Fabric Traders. The focus was on the localization of 25 garment products to bolster national industry and achieve economic empowerment.
Attention was given to the factories established by the Small and Micro Projects Authority in the Capital Secretariat, with plans set to visit these factories to evaluate their activity, production needs, and necessary procedures, especially concerning the treatment plant in Bani Al Harith district. Additionally, they assessed economic empowerment projects from 2022 to April 2026, examining their impact on supporting productive families and target groups.
The meeting also addressed the technical education sector, reviewing the status of technical and vocational institutes and proposing strategies to enhance their role in qualifying technical and vocational cadres.
Several recommendations and executive measures emerged from the meeting. These included visiting the factories established by the Small and Micro Projects Authority, funded by the Projects and Agricultural and Fisheries Initiatives Financing Unit, and tasking the unit to complete procedures for purchasing cows for the veterinary institute. Furthermore, the director of the social affairs office was assigned to follow up with cooperative associations in the districts to submit operational expenditure plans and complete required reports and studies for the next meeting, aiming to enhance developmental and cooperative performance.
