Sana'a: The Emergency Committee in Sana'a Governorate discussed in its meeting on Saturday, chaired by Governor Abdulbasit Al-Hadi, the preparations to prevent potential flood damage during the current rainy season, as well as precautionary measures to avoid any loss of life and property.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included the Deputy Governor for the Services Sector and Deputy Head of the Committee, Fares Al-Kahali, along with directors of relevant offices and a number of engineers and specialists, who reviewed priorities for addressing flood-related damage.
The discussion addressed measures and preparations for implementing emergency actions to reduce losses and damage, as well as the nature of the work required, which includes inspecting and examining culverts, flood drainage channels, and beginning the removal of debris causing blockages. Additionally, it emphasized the urgent need to study the causes of rockfalls to mitigate damage to roads, properties, and other infrastructure.
The meeting assigned the Public Works sector to prepare a comprehensive study to address falling rocks in the Al-Ashash area, stressing the need to clean streets and culverts before and after rainfall.
During the meeting, Governor Al-Hadi affirmed the commitment to mobilize all available resources to confront any damage resulting from floods. He also stressed the importance of distributing tasks, designating personnel at targeted sites, and reinforcing districts with emergency teams, especially those prone to landslides during rainfall.
Governor Al-Hadi highlighted the importance of coordination among all service offices, relevant authorities, and emergency teams, taking necessary measures to drain rainwater, implementing appropriate procedures to limit flood damage, and enhancing readiness to carry out emergency interventions and ensure rapid response to address damage as it occurs.
