Government and Private Sector Collaborate at Sana’a Chamber of Commerce Meeting

Sana'a: The weekly meeting between the government and the private sector was held today at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the capital, Sana'a, chaired by Minister of Finance Abduljabbar Ahmed, and the Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Sam Al-Basheeri.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by key figures including the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Capital Secretariat, Ali Al-Hadi, the Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority Dr. Ibrahim Al-Mahdi, and other significant stakeholders. The focus was on reviewing the measures and solutions agreed upon in the previous meeting.

The meeting underscored the importance of these sessions in resolving issues promptly and simplifying procedures. It approved the formation of sector-specific support teams from the Ministries of Finance and Economy to strengthen institutional work by identifying sector-specific problems and developing necessary solutions.

Additionally, it was agreed to hold regular meetings between the government and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to coordinate efforts for the private sector's benefit and to enhance economic stability. The importance of utilizing tax and customs exemptions under the new Investment Law was emphasized as a means of fostering real investment opportunities.

Discussions also covered recent measures in the textiles and clothing sector aimed at supporting national industries, an area showing improvement in local production quality and quantity. Issues from bottled water factory representatives were addressed, with an agreement to form a joint team to handle these within a framework of defined agreements.

Participants praised the outcomes of the previous meeting, highlighting the positive impact of these gatherings on the economy and cooperation between government and private sectors. Comments and concerns were heard, with directives issued to resolve them, reflecting the government's commitment to supporting the private sector and achieving economic development.
