Al-hodeidah: The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubaii, together with the Governor of Al-Hodeidah, Abdullah Atifi, laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several agricultural projects in Al-Jurabih and Al-Kuden areas of Al-Duha District. These projects, with a total budget of 272,556,000 riyals, are financed by the Project and Agricultural and Fisheries Initiatives Financing Unit.
According to Yemen News Agency, the initiatives include drilling five wells equipped with solar power systems and modern irrigation networks for the General Organization for Seed Multiplication farm in Al-Jurabih, costing 159,273,855 riyals. Additionally, the Agricultural Research Center 'Tihama Station' in Al-Kuden city will undergo restoration and rehabilitation, with an investment of 113,282,000 riyals, to bolster its role in agricultural research and development.
During the ceremony, Dr. Al-Rubaii emphasized that these projects align with the ministry's strategy to advance the agricultural sector, enhance productivity, and contribute to food security and self-sufficiency by providing improved seeds. He highlighted the importance of the well-drilling project, which integrates solar energy systems to ensure sustainable water resources and improve irrigation efficiency.
Governor Atifi lauded the efforts of the Revolutionary Leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the Ministry of Agriculture in implementing strategic projects that support farmers and the agricultural production areas. He stated that Al-Duha District was chosen for its agricultural significance and natural resources, and these projects will enhance production and improve farmers' livelihoods.
Yahya Al-Wadaei, Director of the Project and Agricultural and Fisheries Initiatives Financing Unit, explained that funding these projects aligns with the unit's mission to develop infrastructure for the agricultural and fisheries sectors, benefiting a large number of farmers and improving the quality of local agricultural products.
Abdullah Al-Wadaei, Director of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication, emphasized that these initiatives represent a significant advancement, facilitating the expansion of improved seed production and reducing operational costs through solar power systems.
Following the ceremony, key officials, including Hussein Al-Atas, Head of the General Fisheries Authority in the governorate, inspected the project sites and received technical briefings from engineers on implementation plans.
