Taiz:The National Human Rights Authority has issued a strong condemnation of what it describes as a heinous crime by Saudi enemy aircraft targeting the home of a citizen in Maqbanah District, Taiz Governorate. The airstrike reportedly resulted in the deaths and injuries of 15 individuals, predominantly women and children from a single family.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Authority's statement described the attack on citizen Al-Quz's home in the Al-Barh area as a cowardly criminal act, constituting a family extermination crime that deeply offends human conscience. It labeled the incident as both a war crime and a crime against humanity, citing it as a clear violation of international covenants and laws, particularly Articles 51 and 52 of the Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, which strictly prohibit targeting civilians and civilian homes.
The Authority further noted the attack as part of a systematic and ongoing targeting of civilian homes in Taiz Governorate, alleging it to be aimed at forced displacement and genocide, rejecting claims by the aggression coalition that it was a military error.
In its statement, the Human Rights Authority emphasized that the bloodshed of women and children in Al-Quz's home will remain a mark of disgrace on the international community, which it accuses of complicit silence. The Authority called for accountability and prosecution of Saudi leaders as war criminals and urged immediate United Nations intervention to protect civilians in the Maqbanah District and Taiz Governorate, regions it claims have endured severe genocidal crimes for 12 years.
Lastly, the Authority declared the Saudi enemy fully legally and criminally responsible for this and previous crimes against the Yemeni people, affirming that the acts of violence against women and children in their homes will not go unpunished.
