Sana'a: The Rural Water Projects Authority has initiated a comprehensive field survey aimed at assessing the drinking water projects in the Rural Ibb District. This evaluation, conducted in collaboration with the local council, seeks to examine the projects from administrative, technical, and financial perspectives.
According to Yemen News Agency, the survey's primary objective is to enhance the performance and sustainability of water projects, address the needs of underserved areas, and assess and rehabilitate existing systems. During the launch event, province undersecretary Qassem al-Masawa emphasized the survey's significance in improving water services. He pointed out that currently, only 52% of the district is covered by these projects, leaving 48% without adequate access to water.
Al-Masawa stressed the importance of deriving practical outcomes from the survey to develop a realistic plan addressing the district's priority water needs. He also reiterated the governorate leadership's dedication to expanding water projects to deliver essential services to citizens, in line with existing directives.
Sadiq Qamaz, the Director of the Rural Water Projects Authority in Ibb, explained that the survey will evaluate the administrative, financial, and technical performance of water project committees and complete their official accreditation. He mentioned that these committees are set to undergo another evaluation in six months.
Qamaz further highlighted the importance of identifying challenges that have led to delays or failures in certain projects and developing suitable solutions. He emphasized ongoing efforts to equip water systems with solar power to reduce operating costs and benefit consumers.
