India Halts Postal Parcels to US in Response to Trump’s Tariffs

New delhi: India has announced the suspension of sending postal parcels to the United States starting next Monday, citing disruptions caused by tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. This move aligns with actions taken by some European postal companies.

According to Yemen News Agency, exceptions to this suspension include letters, documents, and gifts valued at no more than $100. India's Ministry of Communications has clarified that the procedures related to the collection and transfer of customs duties remain unclear. This uncertainty has led carriers to declare that they are not operationally and technically prepared to handle parcels after August 25, 2025.

The tariff exemption for low-value packages will be scrapped by the Trump administration starting August 29, prompting postal services in France and Germany to implement similar measures, with exceptions for small packages and gifts.
