Intisaf Organization Condemns Saudi Strikes on Sana’a Airport as Humanitarian Crisis Worsens

Sana'a: The Intisaf Organization for Women's and Children's Rights condemned the crime committed by the Saudi enemy in targeting Sana'a International Airport with several airstrikes that struck the runways, considering it a dangerous escalation that undermines de-escalation efforts and doubles the suffering of civilians.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Organization affirmed that the targeting of Sana'a Airport comes within the context of the continued siege imposed on Yemen for more than ten years, and the continued obstruction of the airport and the deprivation of thousands of patients, travelers, students, and expatriates of their right to movement, treatment, and travel, in clear violation of international conventions that prohibit and require the protection of civilian objects.

The statement explained that Sana'a International Airport is a civilian facility providing humanitarian services to citizens, and that its targeting constitutes a grave violation of the principles of international humanitarian law, particularly the principles of distinction and proportionality, and amounts to a war crime and a crime against humanity, as it is a deliberate attack on a vital civilian facility.

The Intisaf Organization held the Saudi regime fully responsible for this crime and its severe humanitarian consequences, and also held the United States responsible for its continued support and backing of the aggression and siege.

It called for an independent and transparent international investigation to hold all those responsible for these violations accountable under international law, urging the United Nations and the Security Council to assume their legal and moral responsibilities regarding the continued silence in the face of these crimes.

The Organization also called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to stop the targeting of civilian facilities, lift the siege on the Yemeni people, and ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes do not go unpunished.

The Intisaf Organization renewed its call for the formation of an independent and impartial international commission to investigate all crimes and violations committed against civilians and civilian facilities in Yemen, and to take measures capable of stopping the aggression, ending the siege, and ensuring respect for the rules of international humanitarian law.
