Seoul: Japan's Nikkei index surpassed the 59,000-point mark for the first time in its history on Thursday, breaking the previous session's record high. This surge came amid receding expectations of an imminent interest rate hike by the Bank of Japan and strong earnings results from chipmaker Nvidia. The Nikkei rose 1.2 percent to 59,295.93 points in early trading, while the broader Topix index also climbed 1.2 percent to 3,890.08 points.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Nikkei has gained 16.4 percent since the beginning of the year. The performance reflects investor confidence in Japan's economic outlook and the influence of global tech companies on the Japanese market.
