Sana’a: The Supreme Judicial Council, under the leadership of Judge Dr. Abdul Momen Shuja El-Din, convened its weekly meeting to evaluate the Minister of Justice’s report on proposed priorities for judicial reforms. The council focused on enhancing judicial authority performance to ensure justice and protect both private and public rights.
According to Yemen News Agency, the council endorsed the judicial reforms outlined in the report, expressing gratitude to the Minister of Justice and Human Rights for the efforts undertaken. Additionally, the council approved the annual performance report of the Public Prosecution for the year 1445 AH, instructing that feedback from the General Secretariat be considered.
The council also evaluated the report concerning prison conditions and prisoner care, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration with relevant authorities to improve these conditions. A committee was formed, comprising members from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Judicial Inspection
Authority, and the Public Prosecution, tasked with visiting prisons, addressing inmate cases, recommending releases where applicable, and preparing a comprehensive report aligned with legal standards.
Furthermore, the council examined the grievances of judges and prosecutors regarding efficiency assessments, taking necessary actions. A draft procedural manual for notaries and trustees was reviewed and assigned to a council member for further assessment. The council also approved amendments to Presidential Decree No. 13 of 1994 on criminal procedures, forwarding them to the Minister of Justice and Human Rights for legal processing.
In addition, a disciplinary case involving a judge was heard, and various agenda topics were discussed with decisions made accordingly. The council’s previous records were approved after modifications.
