Khartoum: The University of Khartoum has emerged as the leading institution among Sudanese universities, excelling in research excellence, openness, academic performance, and global presence, as per the Webometrics rankings for the second half of 2025. This ranking was released by the Supreme Council for Scientific Research in Spain.
According to Sudan News Agency, the purpose of this assessment is to enhance the online presence of higher education and scientific research institutions while encouraging the publication of peer-reviewed scientific journals and research. Despite facing challenges due to the ongoing war and its resulting exceptional circumstances, the University of Khartoum has demonstrated resilience and commitment under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Emad El-Din El-Amin El-Tahir Ardeeb, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Ahmed Mudawi Musa, and the Secretary of Academic Affairs, Professor Ali Rabah. The administration successfully conducted five examination sessions to address the backlog of student batches and graduate thousands of students.
Looking ahead, the University of Khartoum administration is planning to resume in-person classes at several campuses across Khartoum State. The initial phase is set to begin at the Education campus in Omdurman, which has been prepared to welcome preparatory year students in September.
