Moscow: Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Armenia has the autonomy to leave the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) if its membership no longer aligns with its national interests. Peskov emphasized that the decision rests solely with Yerevan and should be made based on Armenia's assessment of its strategic priorities.
According to Yemen News Agency, Peskov, during a press briefing, advised Armenia to weigh the experiences of Turkey and other nations that have faced prolonged waits for European Union membership. He acknowledged that Armenian officials have previously discussed the possibility of freezing their CSTO membership but have not yet committed to a complete withdrawal.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed a unique stance on the matter, suggesting that an expulsion from the CSTO would relieve Armenia from the challenging decision of whether to maintain or terminate its membership in the organization.
