Hajjah: The agricultural sector in Hajjah governorate has initiated the 1446 AH project aimed at expanding the cultivation of essential crops, marked by an introductory workshop that underscored the project's significance. The launch involves collaboration with the Agricultural Cooperative Union branch, the Bunyan Foundation, and is funded by the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the governorate. Hasan Hazazi, the head of the agricultural sector in the governorate, called upon department directors and farming sector branches participating in the workshop to fully leverage the opportunity to ensure the project's success.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Revolution Leader, Mr. Abdulmalik Badruddin Al-Houthi, has expressed a strong interest in expanding the cultivation of essential crops to achieve self-sufficiency and enhance food security. The workshop, attended by Abdulazim Al-Absi, the deputy head of the agricultural sector, featured trainers Mohammed Fateeh and engineers Aseel Al-Sharfi and Adnan Khuraim, who presented strategies on working mechanisms, data collection, ensuring data accuracy, proper sourcing, and preparing crop maps for districts focusing on prevalent crops.
Saleh Alabhadhi, the executive director of the Agricultural Cooperative Union branch, reiterated the Union's commitment to supporting efforts in surveying farmers with irrigation sources via agricultural associations and development leaders. He emphasized the survey's role in establishing a database crucial for planning and decision-making to expand the cultivation of essential crops and decrease dependency on imports.
