Manila:A meeting led by Dr. Mishal Al-Rifi, Director-General of the Public Electricity Corporation, addressed the provision of subsidized government electricity services in the liberated districts of the West Coast.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included Engineer Gharsan Abdulbari and Engineer Ghamdan Al-Khalidi, directors of the Hodeida and Taiz electricity zones, along with representatives from power generation plants in these areas. Discussions centered on the necessary administrative, technical, and engineering measures to resume operations and restore electricity services swiftly.
The Tihama Transmission Department was assigned to inspect the 132-kilovolt Al-Mukha-Al-Jarahi power line and initiate the connection immediately. Additionally, Ras Kathib Power Plant's management was instructed to provide the required personnel and technical support to the Al-Mukha/Mocha Steam Power Plant for conducting studies to resume operations and rehabilitate two generating units.
The Director of the Hodeida electricity zone was tasked with coordinating with the Economic Corporation's team to finalize work on solar power plants in Al-Khawkhah and Hays and integrate them into the service. The meeting approved the rehabilitation of distribution networks in these cities and the connection of solar power plants to their respective networks.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Taiz Electricity District was directed to complete the internal distribution network in Al-Barh, serving population centers along the transmission line. This preparation aims to enable these areas to receive electricity once the connection to the national power grid is completed.
Dr. Al-Rifi emphasized the Corporation's commitment to providing the necessary facilities and support to complete projects that improve electricity supply, alleviate hardships faced by coastal district residents, and ensure stable services. He commended the resilience of the Corporation's staff in maintaining operations and continuing electricity supply despite attacks on power generation plants that significantly impaired their capacity.
