Sana'a: Officials from the Ministry of Economy and Investment and Sana'a governorate met on Sunday with representatives of metal and household goods factories to discuss challenges facing the sector and measures to support local production and industrial activity.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting brought together Deputy Minister of Economy and Investment for Industry and Economic Cities Engineer Sami Maqbouli, Deputy Governor of Sana'a for Investment Affairs Yahya Jamaan, the Director of the Central Operations Room at the ministry, and representatives of local metal manufacturing plants.

Participants reviewed the difficulties affecting the metal and household products manufacturing sector and discussed potential solutions aimed at revitalizing production, supporting struggling factories, and stimulating economic activity.

The discussions also addressed concerns raised by factory representatives regarding practices they said negatively affect local manufacturing and employment opportunities in the sector. Among the key challenges highlighted were rising prices of raw materials, particularly scrap metal, as well as concerns about pricing practices and market competition that manufacturers say place pressure on domestic production.

During the meeting, officials emphasized the importance of supporting and protecting local metal industries, describing the sector as an important contributor to economic activity and employment. Maqbouli and Jamaan reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Economy and Investment and the local authority in Sana'a Governorate to address obstacles facing factories and work to prevent further disruptions to industrial operations.

They also stressed the importance of market oversight, enforcement of quality and standards regulations, and adherence to official pricing policies issued by the Ministry of Economy and Investment. The meeting concluded with a call for continued coordination between government institutions and manufacturers to strengthen local industry, support domestic production, and improve the operating environment for factories in the governorate.
