Sana'a: The National Meteorological Center and Early Warning has forecast continued chances of rainfall across numerous governorates over the next 24 hours. According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin issued by the center predicts moderate to heavy thundery rainfall, accompanied by strong downdraft winds and hail, in parts of the governorates of Al-Bayda, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, western Saada, and the highlands of Lahj and Abyan. This weather pattern is expected to extend to parts of the Tihama Plain and the western coasts.
Scattered rainfall, occasionally accompanied by thunder, is also anticipated in areas such as Amran, Hajjah, Sana'a, and the highlands and deserts of Shabwah, Hadramout, and Al-Mahrah. The center has issued warnings to citizens regarding the potential for flash floods, advising against being in their channels or attempting to cross them on foot or by vehicle during and after rainfall.
The center further cautioned against the dangers posed by thunderstorms, recommending that individuals avoid elevated areas, trees, and tall towers. It also advised against using mobile phones and recommended disconnecting sensitive electrical and electronic devices and solar energy systems during these storms.
Additionally, warnings have been issued concerning the risks of rockfalls and mudslides, particularly on slopes and mountain roads. There is also concern about the potential for the collapse of buildings and mud-brick forts due to ongoing rainfall. The center has called on relevant authorities to take appropriate measures to safeguard lives and property.
