Meteorology Predicts Cold Weather and Dust in Yemen’s Deserts and Coasts

General

Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast cold to very cold weather in the mountainous highlands and inland plateaus, alongside dust suspensions in the deserts and parts of the eastern and southern coasts over the next 24 hours.

According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin issued by the center indicates that the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, Al-Bayda, the north of Ibb, the south of Marib, and the west of Al-Jawf will experience cold to very cold weather during the night and early morning. There is also a possibility of frost formation in limited areas within these regions.

In addition, the weather is expected to be cold in the highlands of Al-Dhalea, Lahj, Abyan, and the plateaus and deserts of Shabwah and Hadramout governorates. Dust suspensions are anticipated in the deserts and parts of the eastern and southern coasts, potentially leading to reduced horizontal visibility.

The center has issued warnings for citizens, particularly the elderly, children, and individuals with health conditions in the western mountainous highlands and inland plateaus, due to the cold and very cold weather. Farmers are advised to take precautions to protect their crops from potential frost damage.

Furthermore, the center has alerted citizens, especially those with respiratory conditions, young children, and the elderly in desert areas and the eastern and southern coasts, to the effects of dust suspensions. Vehicle drivers are also cautioned about low horizontal visibility on the roads.
