Speaker of Parliament Engages with Commercial and Industrial Sector Leaders

Sanaa: The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Brother Yahya Ali Al-Ra'i, convened a meeting today with representatives from the commercial and industrial sectors, including the First Deputy Speaker of the Council, Abdul Salam Saleh Hishoul, the Deputy Head of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mohammed Salah, the Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Capital Secretariat, Ali Al-Hadi, and several chamber members and commercial house representatives.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting also included the Head of the Financial Affairs Committee at the House of Representatives, Ahmed Al-Nuwairah, the Committee's Rapporteur, Mohammed Al-Bakri, Committee member Abdu Radman, and Members of Parliament Ahmed Shaye', Abdu Al-Adalah, Mohammed Al-Nahiya, Hamed Rajih, and Mohammed Al-Nahmi. The discussions focused on critical issues aimed at strengthening the national partnership between public and private sectors to support national economic and developmental interests, enhance investment opportunities, and foster economic and agricultural growth.

The Speaker listened to the representatives' vision for establishing a genuine partnership to address challenges facing the private sector due to the country's conditions, the impacts of aggression and blockade, and the needs of the change and construction phase to promote economic and investment development. This partnership is expected to operate within a legislative and legal framework that adapts to Yemen's current challenges.

During the meeting, Brother Yahya Ali Al-Ra'i emphasized the Council's commitment to fostering partnerships between the government and private sector, encouraging national capital, and supporting Yemeni businessmen against the backdrop of aggression and blockade. He commended the commercial and industrial sectors for their role in supporting development and highlighted the importance of leveraging opportunities provided by the Investment Law. The Council expressed its readiness to discuss any projects or proposals to amend relevant laws in accordance with the Change and Construction Government's directives.

The Speaker tasked the First Deputy Speaker, Hishoul, with ensuring the implementation of an agreement between the government and the General Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, particularly regarding tax collection mechanisms on imported goods. Additionally, he stressed the government's obligation to adhere to the House of Representatives' recommendations concerning the government program that received the Council's confidence.

Deputy Speaker Hishoul reiterated the Council's dedication to addressing the concerns and aspirations of the private sector, recognizing its integral role in the nation's economic and developmental progress.
