Sanaa: On this day, February 16, the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression targeted unarmed civilians and their private and public property in a number of governorates, resulting in dozens of martyrs and wounded, and massive destruction.
According to Yemen News Agency, on February 16, 2016, three citizens were martyred as a result of the aggression's aircraft targeting a car on the public road in Ghamr District in Saada Governorate. Additionally, four airstrikes were launched on citizens' homes in the Bani Rabia area in the border district of Razeh, causing extensive destruction to public and private property. In the same governorate, further airstrikes targeted telecommunications and residential areas, causing widespread damage.
A citizen and his wife were martyred due to an airstrike in the Malafij area in Al-Jawf Governorate. Meanwhile, in Sana'a Governorate, a series of airstrikes resulted in multiple casualties and damage to homes and agricultural lands. In Taiz Governorate, airstrikes led to injuries and damage to homes, farms, and public facilities, disrupting telecommunication services. The aggression also targeted industrial and food storage facilities in Hodeidah and Hajjah Governorates, causing severe damage.
On February 16 in subsequent years, similar patterns of airstrikes and artillery shelling continued across various governorates, resulting in civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure. Notably, in 2017, there were airstrikes using cluster bombs in Saada city causing significant property damage. In 2018, airstrikes in various districts led to multiple deaths, including children, and further destruction of property.
The aggression persisted in 2019, with airstrikes causing casualties and damage in multiple governorates, including Hodeida and Al-Jawf. In 2020, artillery shelling injured civilians in Hodeida, while in 2021, Saudi border guard fire and airstrikes resulted in further casualties in Saada Governorate.
The violence continued into 2022, with airstrikes and artillery shelling causing more deaths and injuries in Al-Jawf, Saada, and Hodeida Governorates. The ongoing aggression has led to significant civilian suffering and widespread destruction of infrastructure across Yemen.
