Sana'a: The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has issued a forecast predicting scattered thundery rainfall of varying intensity across several governorates, alongside strong winds affecting the Socotra Archipelago, Bab al-Mandab, and the western and eastern coasts over the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center's weather bulletin indicates that areas such as Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Al Mahwit, and Hajjah are expected to experience thundery rainfall of varying intensity. Additionally, parts of the highlands in Al Mahrah, Hadramawt, Shabwah, Abyan, Al Bayda, Al Dhalea, Lahj, western Sana'a, Amran, Saada, and sections of the Tihama Plain may see scattered thundery showers, occasionally accompanied by hail.
The forecast also highlights the expectation of strong winds, with speeds reaching up to 35 knots in the Socotra Archipelago and up to 25 knots in the Bab al-Mandab Strait and along the western and eastern coasts. This weather pattern raises concerns for the safety of residents and seafarers in the affected regions.
The center has issued warnings to residents in areas predicted to receive rainfall, emphasizing the risk of flash floods in ravines and valleys. Residents are advised to avoid flood channels and wadi beds to ensure their safety. Furthermore, seafarers, fishermen, and ship captains are cautioned about rough seas and high waves in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the eastern Gulf of Aden, the southern and eastern coasts, and the Socotra Archipelago, urging them to exercise caution during this period.
