Sana'a: The Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Hassan Al-Saadi, launched today the annual meeting to present and discuss the annual performance reports of Yemeni universities and colleges for the year 1447 AH (2025-2026).
According to Yemen News Agency, the meetings, organized over the course of a month by the Higher Education Sector at the Ministry, aim to review and discuss performance reports and levels of achievement in the annual reports of public and private universities and community colleges, and the availability of required data and information based on prepared templates and models.
At the launch, the Minister of Education and Scientific Research affirmed that the presentation and discussion of annual performance reports of universities represent the analytical tool and primary guide to ensure the continuity and development of higher education quality, despite the exceptional circumstances the country is facing. He pointed to the importance of this step to determine performance levels and achievement rates in their plans and programs, identify shortcomings, and propose necessary solutions to improve the educational process and enhance the quality of outputs.
For his part, the Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, considered the presentation and discussion of the annual reports of Yemeni universities and colleges as an important step for evaluation and assessment, to determine the achievements of universities and colleges, the difficulties they face, and to work on addressing them. He highlighted the importance of these meetings to shed light on the conditions of universities and colleges, and to provide motivation and incentive to develop and improve their academic and educational work to ensure the achievement of desired goals and objectives.
Subsequently, the discussion committee began reviewing the annual report of Sa'dah University, presented by the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Dr. Waleed Al-Iryani, the Dean of Quality, Dr. Waleed Shaban, and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Al-Junaid Al-Tayeb. The report included the achievements and developments witnessed by the university during the recent period in academic, programmatic, administrative, and scientific research fields, as well as the difficulties it faces and proposed solutions and remedies.
In the second session, the committee reviewed the annual performance report of Tontak International University for Technology, presented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Fuad Hanish, the President of the University, Dr. Wael Al-Aghbari, and the Dean of Quality, Dr. Fadl Ba'alawi. The report covered the implementation of the strategic plan, developments and achievements, difficulties, and proposed remedies.
In the third session, the committee reviewed the annual performance report of the Modern Specialized University and the Modern Specialized Community College, presented by the President of the University, Dr. Mujahid Al-Jabr, the Vice Dean of the Specialized Community College for Academic Affairs, Dr. Arwa Al-Saadani, and the Dean of Quality, Dr. Ammar Ali. The report included performance indicators and other themes.
The Deputy Head of the Discussion Committee at the Higher Education Sector, Dr. Mohammed Abdulwahab, and committee members reviewed the observations on the annual performance reports of the three universities, according to the themes and templates based on which university performance is evaluated, namely: "Strategic Planning, Leadership and Governance, Community Services, Teaching and Learning, Automation, Student Statistics, Faculty, Student Activities, Recommendations, Quality Management and Development, Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Human Resources, Financial Affairs, and Projects."
The Deputy Head of the Committee affirmed that these discussions aim to determine the extent of universities' commitment to implementing their approved strategic plans, the efficiency of administrative and organizational structures, and to study feedback from employers and institutions regarding the competence of graduates. Furthermore, they serve as a fundamental pillar on which the Higher Education Sector relies to develop the educational environment, enhance transparency, and ensure quality.
