Sana'a: The National Human Rights Commission strongly condemned and denounced the new crime committed by the Saudi enemy this evening, when it targeted safe residential villages in the Ghour Al-Mushawat area of Ghamr District, Sa'ada Governorate, with indiscriminate artillery shelling, resulting in civilian casualties, destruction of citizens' homes, and the terrorization of women and children.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Commission stated in a statement that the repeated targeting of residential border areas is evidence of the military and moral incapacity of the Saudi regime, and falls within the framework of the internationally prohibited policy of collective punishment.
It affirmed that this crime constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and a flagrant breach of the principles of distinction, proportionality, and the obligation to protect civilians, holding the Saudi regime fully legally responsible for these crimes and their consequences of killing, displacement, and destruction of civilian infrastructure.
The Commission called for urgent action from the international community, the Security Council, and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to halt these repeated crimes and attacks, and to open an independent international investigation to hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure they do not escape punishment.
It stressed that war crimes do not prescribe, and that the blood and lives of the Yemeni people will not be in vain, affirming that their right to life, security, and dignity is guaranteed, and that the perpetrators will be pursued judicially.
The Commission called on humanitarian organizations to intervene, document the violations, and raise their voices against the double standards of the international community regarding what is happening in Yemen, considering the world's silence on these crimes as complicity in the shedding of Yemeni blood.
It reiterated its commitment to remain the defending voice of the oppressed until justice is served.
