Parliament Speaker Engages with Military and Prisoners’ Affairs Committees on Humanitarian Efforts

Sanaa: Speaker of Parliament Yahya Ali al-Ra'i met with the head of the Military Committee, Major General Yahya al-Ruzami, the head of the National Committee for Prisoners' Affairs, Abdulqader al-Murtada, and others to discuss progress on the prisoners' affairs file. The meeting was attended by deputies, parliamentary members, and secretaries who have been instrumental in these efforts.

According to Yemen News Agency, during the meeting, Speaker al-Ra'i expressed his appreciation for the committee's efforts resulting in the signing of a crucial agreement. He emphasized the importance of resolving the humanitarian issue of releasing prisoners and abductees held by US-Saudi forces, adhering to the "all for all" principle outlined in the roadmap. The Speaker reaffirmed the House of Representatives' commitment to completing humanitarian files, including salary disbursements and reopening airports for travelers and patients.

The Speaker highlighted that the prisoner exchange marks a significant humanitarian step, reflecting the commitment of revolutionary and political leadership to alleviate the suffering of detainees and their families. He reiterated the Parliament's dedication to ensuring the complete release of all prisoners, detainees, and those forcibly disappeared, maintaining solidarity with their families until resolution.

Major General al-Ruzami commended the Speaker and Parliament's efforts, noting the suffering endured by prisoners over 11 years. He stressed the committee's full authority to resolve the prisoners' file, highlighting the importance of the Parliament's support in boosting morale.

Chairman al-Murtada confirmed the prisoner exchange involves 1,100 prisoners and detainees, in exchange for 580 prisoners held by the opposing side. He detailed the challenges faced in negotiations, including the ongoing disappearance of individuals, and assured families that efforts continue for future exchanges.

At the meeting's conclusion, the Parliament honored the Military and National Committees with the House of Representatives Shield, recognizing their significant efforts in addressing the prisoners' file.
