Hajjah: A meeting was held in Hajjah governorate, chaired by Governor Hilal al-Sufi, to discuss the performance of the Bani Qais Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative, the difficulties it faces, and ways to address them. The meeting reviewed the cooperative's projects and activities and ways to develop its work in the agricultural and service sectors within the district.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting addressed the cooperative's debt, the projects that have been halted and the reasons for their suspension, and the mechanisms for transitioning the cooperative's operations from a manual documentation process to an automated accounting system to ensure data accuracy, speed of completion, and transparency in performance.
Governor Al-Sufi emphasized the importance of activating the role of agricultural associations in supporting farmers and improving agricultural production, considering these associations a fundamental pillar for achieving food security. He stressed the commitment to coordinating with the Secretary-General of the Agricultural Cooperative Union regarding the accounting system for agricultural associations. This coordination aims to facilitate the transition to modern accounting systems, update databases, and provide the necessary support to enhance the associations' performance and better serve their members.
He explained that the local authority prioritizes cooperative associations to improve their performance and modernize their mechanisms to better serve farmers and alleviate their hardships. He affirmed that Bani Qais is a model district whose experience in development, services, and agriculture is hoped to be replicated in other districts. The governor emphasized the importance of concerted official and community efforts to advance the agricultural sector and transform challenges into opportunities for production and productivity.
