Prisoners Affairs Chief Denies Capture of Yemeni Military Leaders in Taiz

Taiz:Head of the National Committee for Prisoners Affairs Abdulqader Al-Murtadha has refuted claims by Saudi enemy forces that Yemeni military leaders were captured in the Taiz governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Murtadha stated that those captured were actually Interior Ministry employees responsible for securing the central prison after the Yemeni armed forces gained control of it. These employees reportedly took a wrong turn due to overlapping front lines and ended up in an area still under the control of Saudi forces, where they were subsequently surrounded and captured.

He explained that such incidents are common in areas near residential zones and do not represent a strategic victory or alter the battle's trajectory. He accused Saudi forces of using the incident to mask their setbacks on the battlefield and to improve the morale of their fighters.

Al-Murtadha mentioned that Yemeni forces have captured over 700 individuals on the Taiz fronts, including many senior military commanders. He emphasized the importance of respecting prisoners' rights and cautioned against using their cases for media propaganda.

He also held Saudi enemy forces accountable for the safety of all prisoners and urged the International Committee of the Red Cross to inspect the detainees in Taiz and assess their conditions in detention.
