Sana’a Concludes Course for Leaders of Agricultural Cooperative Union Branches in Seven Governorates

Sana'a: A training course for leaders of the Agricultural Cooperative Union branches in seven governorates concluded in Sana'a. It was organized by the Union in cooperation with the Bonyan Academy for Training and Qualification, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

According to Yemen News Agency, the course aimed, over six days, to provide 23 trainees from the governorates of Taiz, Al-Dhale', Ibb, Raymah, Marib, Al-Jawf, and Amran with knowledge and skills regarding the general vision of cooperative work in accordance with the general policies of the agricultural revolution and the methodology of field work, coinciding with the anniversary of the Prophet's Birthday.

At the conclusion, in the presence of the Acting Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Ammar Al-Kareem, Undersecretary of the Fisheries Sector, Dr. Fawzi Al-Saghir, pointed out the importance of the course in enhancing developmental integration and transferring the methodology to cooperative associations along value chains, contributing to achieving self-sufficiency and reducing the import bill.

He emphasized that the ministry has made strides in implementing the plowing and seeds project, noting the role of farmers who launched towards achieving self-sufficiency in many crops, some of which now possess promising indicators for self-sufficiency.

For his part, Secretary-General of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Engineer Muhammad Al-Qahoum, pointed to the fundamental role of the Union's branches in the governorates in achieving development and cooperative community building through associations to bridge the field gap.

He drew attention to the responsibility in monitoring the performance of associations and evaluating them according to the path of vertical expansion in production and value chains, to bring about a shift contributing to the advancement of the community economy leading to the achievement of self-sufficiency.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the Union Branch in Amran Governorate, Ahmed Ayash, delivered a speech on behalf of the course participants, emphasizing the eagerness to apply and translate the knowledge they received into reality to advance local development.

At the conclusion, which was attended by executive leaders and representatives of relevant entities, the trainees were honored with certificates of appreciation.
