Sana'a: Acting Prime Minister Scholar Mohammed Muftah inaugurated the first Ramadan tournament for neighborhood teams at the 22 May Cultural and Social Club in Sana'a, which is dedicated to the Martyr Mujahid Mohammed Abdulkarim Al-Ghamari Cup. The inauguration marks the start of a sports event taking place during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Yemen News Agency, Scholar Muftah expressed his satisfaction at being present for the tournament's commencement, aligning with Ramadan, a period traditionally associated with worship and activity. He commended the participants for their enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and positive engagement, underscoring the significance of sports among the youth.
The Acting Prime Minister expressed optimism about the tournament's organization, competition, and outcomes. He highlighted the efforts of the club's leadership and its members and urged the club to focus on nurturing the sports talents of the youth from neighboring communities. He emphasized that sports are not just physical activities but also educational, involving cultural, scouting, and social dimensions.
Ali Hadban, Deputy Minister of Youth for the Sports Sector, stressed the importance of organizing tournaments like the Martyr Mujahid Mohammed Abdulkarim Al-Ghamari Tournament to honor national symbols and instill values of sacrifice among youth. He praised the 22 May Club's leadership for organizing the event and encouraged other clubs to invest in youth through sports.
Hadban reiterated the Ministry of Youth's commitment to supporting youth and sports activities in line with the directives of the Revolution Leader, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badreddin Al-Houthi, and the Supreme Political Council. He emphasized the focus on youth and athletes.
Ali Al-Saqqaf, Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Zakat and President of the Club, noted that the tournament for neighborhood teams is part of the club's mission to engage youth during Ramadan. He highlighted the club's dedication to organizing diverse sports and cultural activities.
Mohammed Abu Askar, Vice President of the Club and Tournament Official, provided details about the tournament. It will run until the end of Ramadan, featuring 42 teams in the Cubs and Buds categories. The Cubs category includes 18 teams divided into two groups, while the Buds category has 24 teams divided into four groups.
