Sanaa:The Shura Council has expressed its disappointment over the response to Sanaa's peaceful efforts, which, According tom, have been met with increased aggression and a tightened siege by Saudi forces.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Council criticized the United Nations for its double standards and perceived bias in dealing with the Yemeni situation. They condemned the UN's silence on the continued economic and field escalations by Saudi Arabia, viewing it as a disregard for the suffering of the Yemeni people.
The Council further accused some UN institutions, including the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, of complicity with the aggressors' movements, which they claim prolongs the humanitarian crisis. The Council alleged this complicity is evident in the UN's failure to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for violating its commitments to peace and ignoring the roadmap for a just resolution.
They highlighted that the ongoing violations have led to significant civilian casualties, including women and children, with about 385 reported as martyrs or wounded since the escalation began on September 12. The Council argued that this situation undermines the UN's credibility and neutrality.
The Shura Council emphasized that the era of coercive policies in Yemen is over and that the Yemeni people and their armed forces will continue to pursue their rights and protect the sovereignty and dignity of their nation. They held the international community and the United Nations accountable for the negative repercussions of their biased approach and double standards, which they believe hinder peace and stability in the region.
