Shura Council Speaker Engages with Health and Environment Minister on Sector Challenges

Sanaa: Speaker of the Shura Council, Mohammed Hussein al-Aidaroos, convened with Minister of Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Shaiban, to discuss the current service activities and challenges faced by the Ministry and its health agencies. The meeting included Deputy Speaker Mohammed Hassan al-Durrah, the Chairman and members of the Public Health and Population Committee, several Shura members, and the Secretary-General.

According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Ali Shaiban presented the Ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance health services, stabilize the pharmaceutical market, and engage in community initiatives to establish dialysis centers in various districts. The discussions also highlighted the Shura Council's Public Health and Population Committee's plan to assess Yemeni health agencies, hospitals, and the pharmaceutical market to address existing shortcomings and propose solutions for improved performance and health services.

Speaker al-Aidaroos commended the Ministry's commitment to providing health services amidst the challenges posed by external aggression and blockades. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to advance the health sector, keeping abreast of modern developments. He also called for a national team to be formed to develop strategies to reform hospital performance and improve medical services.

The Speaker directed the Public Health and Population Committee to work closely with the Ministry and its agencies to create a unified vision, accompanied by recommendations to address the priority challenges in the health sector. Minister Shaiban expressed gratitude towards the Shura Council for its support in addressing the Ministry's difficulties and working towards enhancing the health system.

Contributions from committee members and government representatives highlighted the importance of identifying health sector problems, focusing on remote area health centers, rehabilitating health infrastructure, and developing a regulatory framework for cooperation between public and private hospitals to ensure seamless service delivery.
