Sanaa: The table tennis tournament for employees of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Youth and Children Care Fund, for the Mawlid al-Nabawi Cup, kicked off today at the Ministry of Youth and Sports hall. The tournament is organized by the ministry with support from the Technical Committee for Activities and Summer Courses.
According to Yemen News Agency, on the first day, a series of matches were held, with player Mohammed Al-Ansi securing two consecutive victories, defeating Shawqi Hajwan in straight sets and Alaa Daghes by the same result. Player Alaa Daghes managed to overcome Amr Abdel Moghni two sets to one, while Mansour Lauza settled his match against Ibrahim Al-Hamzi in straight sets. Sadiq Al-Salwi defeated Fikri Al-Jofi in straight sets, while Yahya Al-Awami beat Nasr Al-Harazi by the same result.
The first day's matches continued with Mohammed Rawah winning against Hussein Qashasha two sets to one, and Yahya Al-Awami continued his positive results after defeating Abdullah Al-Durrah in straight sets. The matches were officiated by national table tennis team players Ahmed Zayed and Abdulrahman Al-Hatami.
