Tribal Reconciliation in Ibb Ends 10-Year-Old Murder Dispute Between Al-Jarash, Al-Samit Families

Sana'a: A tribal reconciliation in Ibb governorate has resolved a decade-long murder dispute between al-Jarash and al-Samit families, with the victim's family offering forgiveness, signaling a significant step toward peace and stability.

According to Yemen News Agency, a tribal reconciliation ceremony was held in Ibb governorate to settle a long-standing murder case involving the death of Bashir Mohammed al-Jarash from al-Jarash family in al-Mashannah district. The incident occurred ten years ago.

The ceremony, led by Ibb governor Abdulwahid Salah, was attended by Shura Council member Nabil al-Hubaishi. During the event, the family of the victim, al-Jarash, announced they had forgiven the perpetrator, Khalid al-Samit, for the sake of Allah and in response to the call for reconciliation from the leader of the revolution, Mr. Abdulmalik al-Houthi.

Al-Jarash family expressed that their decision to forgive was based on religious and humanitarian values promoting forgiveness, aiming to close the chapter on the tragic incident. This gesture of mercy was seen as a step toward fostering peace and stability in the community.

Governor Salah emphasized that the reconciliation marked a victory for values of tolerance and societal unity, demonstrating the province's commitment to resolving disputes peacefully. He commended the victim's family for their noble decision and reiterated the government's support for efforts to settle community conflicts, furthering social harmony.

The governor also called on other tribes and social figures to play an active role in resolving disputes, promoting dialogue, and fostering reconciliation to ensure the community remains united and free from further conflict.

Shura Council member hailed the reconciliation as a model of tribal dispute resolution, underscoring the Yemeni society's deep-rooted commitment to values of forgiveness and peace. The arbitration committee overseeing the case stated that the reconciliation followed extensive mediation efforts between the two families.

The committee highlighted the profound impact of the victim's family's decision to forgive, which ultimately led to the closure of the case and reinforced the principles of justice and social cohesion.
