Sana’a: The “Faith Identity” Volleyball Championship, organized by the steering committee of the Yemeni General Volleyball Federation under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and supported by Kamran Industry, Investment, and Yemen Mobile, commenced on Monday at the Sam Recreation Club in Sana’a. The five-day event features 80 players across eight teams, divided into two groups. The first group comprises teams Al-Hawaya, Al-Iman, Waad Al-Akhira, and Nour Al-Resala, while the second group includes Al Taqwa, Al Fatah, Al Hikma, and Al Nasr.
According to Yemen News Agency, the tournament system stipulates that the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, which will follow a scissor method. The winners of the semi-finals will compete in the final, while the losing teams will vie for third place. At the tournament’s opening, Mohammed Al-Dawla, Chairman of Kamran for Industry and Investment, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting sports activities as part of its social responsibility. Walid Faye, head of the steering committee of the Yemeni General Volleyball Federation, expressed the committee’s goal to revitalize volleyball throughout the Republic by implementing an ongoing plan to promote the sport at both club and team levels through various tournaments.
In the tournament’s initial matches, the teams of Al Hawayah, Al Taqwa, Nour Al Risalah, and Wa’ad Al-Akhira secured their first victories.
