Doha: Yemeni national weightlifter Basel Al-Amberi clinched two bronze medals in the clean and jerk and the total at the Arab Championship, Qatar Cup, and West Asia Championship, which is currently taking place in Doha from December 19 to 27. The event sees participation from various Arab and Asian national teams.
According to Yemen News Agency, Yemen's involvement in the championship extends with lifters Murad Al-Samawi and Yazan Nasser competing in the 79 kg weight category. The Yemeni delegation arrived in Doha on Friday, led by the Secretary-General of the Federation, Abdulkhaleq Al-Khamisi. The team includes technical staff headed by coach Mazen Salem and team administrator Fawaz Al-Muqbali.
The national team comprises nine lifters: Basel Ahmed, Firas Salem, Mohammed Amir Tareesh, Abdullah Mohammed, Ahmed Mohammed, Murad Al-Samawi, Yazan Ahmed, Mohammed Abdulqawi, and Ammar Yasser. Yemeni international referees Muneer Al-Din Ahmed, Firas Zaid, and Abdulkhaleq Al-Khamisi are also participating in officiating the championship competitions.
