Sana'a: The Minister of Youth and Sports, Deputy Head of the Supreme Committee for Summer Activities and Programs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Mawlid, inaugurated the Fourth Summer Festival for Talented and Creative Students at the Orphan Care Center in the Secretariat. This festival, hosted in summer schools across the capital, aims to cultivate the skills and talents of young participants.
According to Yemen News Agency, Minister Al-Mawlid was joined by Deputy Minister of Youth for Sports Abdullah Hadhban, Director of the Youth and Sports Office in the Secretariat Abdullah Obaid, and Director of the Orphan Care Center Ahmed Al-Khazan. Together, they reviewed the students' works in innovations, drawing, and models, and listened to performances in Quran memorization, oratory, and poetry.
Minister Al-Mawlid highlighted the festival's role in supporting summer schools, emphasizing the development of students' capacities and talents in various fields. He stressed the importance of these programs in fostering a generation grounded in scientific, cultural, and intellectual knowledge, aligned with Quranic principles, to protect youth from destructive ideologies.
He affirmed that summer schools enhance students' faith-based orientation and connection to religious teachings, which help uncover talents and innovations. He encouraged parents to motivate their children to participate in these beneficial summer activities.
Director of Activities at the Education Office in the Secretariat and Head of the Festival's Organizing Committee, Abdullah Samina, noted that over 800 students from various districts in the capital are competing over the five-day festival. The competitions span eight fields, including Quran memorization, poetry, theater, and traditional folk dance (Bara').
Deputy Director of School Activities, Abdullah Al-Madani, described the organization of the festival, detailing the distribution of judging committees and the schedule for each district's schools to participate, overseen by organizing and technical committees.
