Muscat: The Muscat Stock Exchange recorded gains in its market value of about 1.5 billion Omani Rials in January, benefiting from rising stock prices and an increase in the market value of public shareholding companies, as well as the bonds and sukuk market.
According to Yemen News Agency, the market value of securities listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange rose by the end of January's trading to 33 billion and 510.5 million Omani Rials, registering a growth of 4.6% compared to its level in December 2025, which was 32 billion and 11.2 million Omani Rials.
The market value of public shareholding companies constituted 51.6% of the total market value after rising by the end of January's trading to 17.3 billion Omani Rials, while the market value of the bonds and sukuk market reached 5.1 billion Omani Rials, representing 15.3% of the stock exchange's total market value.
The market value of closed companies reached 11 billion and 49.6 million Omani Rials, while the market value of the promising companies market was 2.7 million Omani Rials.
OQ for Exploration and Production led public shareholding companies in terms of market value with 3 billion and 176 million Omani Rials. Bank Muscat came in second after its market value rose to 2 billion and 709.8 million Omani Rials. Sohar International Bank ranked third with a market value of 1 billion and 85.2 million Omani Rials. Asyad Shipping and Maritime Services came fourth with 994.8 million Omani Rials, and OQ Gas Networks ranked fifth with a market value of 892.1 million Omani Rials.
The Muscat Stock Exchange benefited in January from rising stock prices of many public shareholding companies. The exchange saw price increases for 80 securities, compared to 20 securities whose prices declined and 11 securities that remained stable at their previous levels.
