Taiz: Al-Salif team in Maqbanah District, Taiz Governorate, claimed the title of the Prophet's Birthday Football Championship on Friday after defeating Al-Ittihad team on penalties, following a 2-2 draw in regular time of the final match.
According to Yemen News Agency, the championship featured 10 teams and lasted for a month. It was organized as part of the sporting activities marking the celebration of the Prophet's birth anniversary. The event was supervised by the governorate's Youth and Sports Office and sponsored by the Ministry of Youth and Sports along with local authorities.
At the closing ceremony, the Director of Youth and Sports in the district, Mohammed Abdulaziz, and the Director of Hajdah Police Department, Akram Al-Humaidi, honored the Al-Salif team, the participating teams, as well as the tournament's best player, best goalkeeper, and top scorer.
