Capital Mayor Launches Community Initiative for Rainwater Drainage Project

Sana'a: Mayor of the Capital, Dr. Hamoud Ubad, on Monday inaugurated the construction of a rainwater drainage channel in the West Rawdah area of the Bani al-Harith District, a project carried out through a community initiative. During the visit, Dr. Ubad, accompanied by First Deputy Mayor Khaled al-Madani, was briefed by district officials on the implementation of the 2,000-meter drainage channel, which begins from Street 24 in West Rawdah and connects to the Daris area network.

According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative also includes surveying and leveling works along a 1,500-meter street, a 400-meter section of Neighborhood Unit 735, and a 50-meter stretch of Street 18. The officials underscored the significance of the project in enhancing infrastructure and mitigating rainwater accumulation and flooding across the capital's districts.

They praised the community effort led by Mujahid Al-Mahdhari, stressing the municipality's commitment to supporting citizen-driven projects in service and development sectors, and encouraging greater public participation in meeting local needs.
