Capital Secretariat Youth Office Hosts Sports and Cultural Festival for Prophet’s Birthday

Sana'a: The Youth and Sports Office in the Capital Secretariat organized a sports and cultural festival on Thursday as part of activities supervised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, with support from the Fund for the Care of Youth and Sports, celebrating the Prophet's Birthday (Mawlid al-Nabawi).

According to Yemen News Agency, the festival included parades by sports teams from districts, clubs, academies, and sports federations, along with performances in gymnastics, kung fu, karate, archery, kickboxing, boxing, and pencak silat. Additionally, attendees enjoyed the folkloric operetta 'The Greatest Messenger', the launch of the Prophet's Birthday Championship for academy teams in three age groups, and the inauguration of the homing pigeon club, celebrated by releasing pigeons within the festival hall.

Addressing the attendees, Mahmoud Al-Junaid, a member of Ansar Allah's Political Bureau, highlighted that commemorating the Prophet's Birthday serves as a chance to reinforce religious and social values among youth and athletes. He emphasized that such events are pivotal in developing a generation that is mindful of its faith identity and national allegiance while promoting cooperation and fair competition among athletes. Al-Junaid acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry of Youth, the Capital Secretariat Youth Office, and all festival participants.

Al-Junaid also pointed out the revolutionary leadership and Supreme Political Council's focus on the youth's role in shaping the nation's present and future and advocating for the causes of the Ummah.

Ali Hodban, Deputy Minister of Youth for the Sports Sector, reiterated the Ministry's dedication to fostering sports and cultural activities that enhance young people's physical and intellectual growth.

During the festival, attended by Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, Head of the Local Council's Services Committee in the Capital Secretariat, and Dr. Kamal Al-Sharif, Assistant Deputy Minister of Youth for the Sports Sector, Hodban expressed that such festivals showcase the state's commitment to investing in youth potential and offering them avenues for constructive societal involvement.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Ubaid, Director of the Capital Secretariat Youth Office, stated that the office is focused on organizing continuous quality events that highlight leadership's attention to the youth's role and promote initiative and excellence among young people and athletes. He commended the support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Fund for the Care of Youth and Sports in sponsoring these activities.
