Beijing: China witnessed steady growth in railway freight during the first seven months of 2025, thanks to improved network operation and service improvements, according to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
According to Yemen News Agency, the national railway network transported a cumulative cargo volume of more than 2.33 billion tons during the period, registering a year-on-year increase of 3.3 percent, while the average daily number of freight cars loaded reached 183,300, a 4.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year, the group was quoted as saying by Xinhua News Agency on Tuesday.
During the January-July period, the volume of coal transported exceeded 1.19 billion tons, and the volume of mineral building materials and grains increased by 13.6 percent and 12.7 percent year-on-year, respectively.
International freight also recorded stable performance, with a total of 8,526 freight train trips operated with Central Asia, a 23.2 percent increase over last year. The China-Laos Railway also transported more than 3.44 million tons of cross-border cargo, a 6.4 percent increase year-on-year.
The company added that it will intensify its efforts to accelerate the development of a modern railway logistics system, deepen market-oriented reforms in railway freight transport, and improve the quality and efficiency of logistics services.
